Mark Harmon out of ‘NCIS’: Monday night was a nightmare for Special Agent fans Leroy Jethro Gibbs on “NCIS.”

After more than 18 seasons Mark Harmon left the show. Monday’s episode, titled “Great Wide Open,” served as his release.
In it, Harmon as Gibbs is in Alaska with Special Agent Timothy McGee (played by Sean Murray) when Gibbs tells him “I’m not going back, Tim. I’m not going back home.”
The show’s executive producer Steve Binder told the deadline that Mark would continue to be “an integral part of the show’s fabric.”
“Our northern star has always been loyal to our characters, and that fact always guides the stories we tell and where those characters go,” said Binder. “So in terms of Gibbs’ future, as long-time fans of the game may have seen over the years … never look at Leroy Jethro Gibbs outside more.
