Urfi Javed of Bigg Boss OTT: I’m a Muslim So When I Wear Some Clothes, Most People Don’t Like It
Bigg Boss OTT contestant Urfi Javed often sparked controversy over his custom-made and inconsistent outfits. From the hard work of wearing a cropped jacket with a pink bodice under the airport to a false connection with the famous songwriter Javed Akhtar, he often found himself in hot water.

In an interview with News18.com, Urfi Javed talks about his favorite outfits, why he doesn’t care about the crash, and how he looks to take on the positive roles behind Bigg Boss OTT.

He was recently caught wearing a kurta during Ganesh Chaturthi. How did you react?

I do not answer. These trolls should not be given any attention. They are people who are dissatisfied with their lives. I do not know why I was oppressed. Have they trampled on me because of my religion? I don’t think it’s worth it. If they trampled on me with what I was wearing then I have seen people wearing very revealing clothes before God. I was not wearing a skirt or a bikini and was dancing in front of the idol Ganpati. I was wearing a normal kurti. I have developed thick skin and I am constantly moving forward. There is so much more to me than my clothes. Why don’t people talk about me or my work? I’ve seen that no matter what I do, people will say things. I am a stubborn Muslim family and for a long time, I was told what to wear. I was not allowed to wear jeans. My chest should always be covered with duppata. This has made me a rebel and today I will wear whatever I want to do.HOME

But this is not the first time you have been mistreated because of your unusual fashion choices.

In this day and age, it is very easy to put a woman down. Women are trying to break the tradition but men are not ready to accept it. Most trolling is for women. Even if they work, that’s a troll attack. When actors like Sara Ali Khan or Janhvi Kapoor went on holiday, they were demolished. When a male character leaves no one says anything. Last year Rhea Chakraborty received a decision on social media and was named a criminal (in the case of Sushant Singh Rajput).

Do you feel like you are being targeted by your religion?

I think so. I’m a Muslim girl so when I do something or wear certain types of clothes, it doesn’t really go down well with most people. My religion has been an obstacle. I remember finding a house in Mumbai was a chore as most people did not want to rent their apartments to the Muslims. I do not follow Islam or any other religion. And when it comes to my clothes, I have never worn anything out of the airport. It was a regular sports bodice with a coat over it. I’ve seen female actors wear short dresses. I don’t know why people do something great. I was just like that and wearing what I wanted. To be honest, I don’t care about these comments.

Most people think that you should wear clothes that show off your attention.

Well, I want attention. I am very hungry for attention. Every character is hungry for attention. You wonder why we are in the show business. If any character says he doesn’t want attention, then he’s lying. If anything I do helps me catch the eyeballs, I’m really happy. That’s just what I am, and if that creates a good spread for me.

So do you agree that any information is well-distributed?

No. Agar waise publicity chahiye hoti, toh airport me bina kapdon ke chali jaati (If I wanted any other kind of advertising I would never have worn anything at the airport).

Was entering Bigg Boss’s house a voluntary option for recognition?

No I came into the house because I was a fan of the program and I wanted to hear the work. If it had been about recognition, I would not have been expelled from the church. I would go to war and do many dances. I was just like that and I wanted to enjoy my time inside the house. I never thought it would improve my career. I never thought I would be the next Shehnaaz Gill.

Have things changed since joining Bigg Boss?

Not really. I have no filmmakers outside my house with scripts. The thing that has changed is that the media is following me. Also, people talk about what I do. I think the trolls have achieved as they now have a lot of trolls. They have a lot of leftovers. Like I said, focusing on doing a good job. Right now I’m thinking of shows and OTT and films more .
